HANGU, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Twelve people were killed on Friday and several others were injured when a suicide bomber crashed his explosive-laden car into the building of a hospital in northwest Pakistan, police said.

The attack happened at a hospital under construction in the Pass Kalay area of Hangu, a town in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, when a suicide bomber crashed his vehicle into the hospital building.

Police said at least 12 people had been killed, while several others had been seriously injured. Pakistani news channels reported that several others may still be trapped under the rubble of the building.

Eyewitnesses at the scene said a part of the hospital had collapsed, while nearby buildings were also damaged. An emergency was declared at regional hospitals.

On Monday, around 50 people were killed and nearly 100 others were injured when a pair of explosions ripped through a government building in northwestern Pakistan.

The blasts happened inside the Political Aghent's office, the office of a senior government official, in the Mohmand tribal region near the Pakistan-Afghan border.
