Advice On Extending For 17 Days

Featured Replies

Hi everybody! :)

I am 27 and from Germany.

I have a ’30 day entry’ stamp which will expire on the 16th. My flight out of Thailand goes on the 2nd of January. That is 17 days left.

Now I am not sure, what to do. I researched in the internet and on this forum, and this is what I came up with as my options:

Option 1: ‘ Visa Run’ to Cambodia 2.100 => 15 days

Extension of stay 1.900 => 2 days

=> Total of 4.000 Baht

Option 2: go to Vientiane and stay there for 2 days, also about 4.000 to 5.000 Baht, according to this source.

Option 3: book a flight to another city in Asia, for the cheapest about 6.000 Baht

So I think option 1 is the best, as it is the cheapest, and less time consuming. But what bugs me, is that I have to pay 1,900 Baht for just 2 days. o_O Or is it cheaper for less time? What do you think is the best to do in my situation?

Thanks so much in advance!!

Any extension costs 1,900 baht. Whether it is for 1 day or 1 year. Sorry.

But you must be able to find a chepaer flight to another city, check on different dates as around the holidays it will be very bussy, but if you go before that there will be more seats availeble, is cheaper prices.

:/ Uh, that's a shame, I was hoping it was cheaper.

The problem with flying is, that I have only 2 days left on my stamp-visa. So I have to leave on Thursday. And I doubt I will find something cheaper, than 4.000.

Bangkok- Cambodia-BKK goes for less than 5,000 baht. No hotel costs, will have visa costs.

EDIT:

Of course travel by car to Cambodia and come back by air will be cheaper.

Hey Mario,

I just checked, BKK-Phnom Phen is 5,690 THB for a round trip on the 16th and 17th back.

To go there by bus: may be 500 for the bus + Visa 750 + flight back 2.500 => will be about 3.750.-

I think I will go for the 1st option, as it is the cheapest and less time consuming.

Thanks a lot for the advice!

Air Asia have Bangkok to Penang in Malaysia for 3800 baht return on the 16th ...........sounds pretty good to me and you'll get 30 days when re-entering.

Hi Charlie,

thanks for you reply!

I am afraid, 3,800 BHT is only for one way. :o I just checked:

why don't u stay in Cambo for 2-3 days instead paying for an expensive 1.900 Baht extension ?

you could go to the TRAT border by Bus and Minivan and then continue to Snookyville and relax there for 2-3 days.

that way, a much poorer country (Cambo) would get some of your EURO too.

is that not an option for you ?
