Retired And Married To Thai A Woman

Featured Replies

To apply for my next visa after being officially married to a Thai woman, how much money do I now have to show in the bank, or the total including pension from UK and money in bank.

That depends on which grounds you apply for an extension:

Are you applying for a visa or an extension of stay from imigration?

For an extension of stay:

based on marriage:

400,000 in a bankaccount in thailand for 2 months OR 40,000 a month income (can be from abroad)

Based on retirement:

800,000 in a bank account in Thailand for 3 months

OR

65,000 a month income (can be from abroad)

OR

a combination of money in the bank and yearly income totaling at least 800,000.

An extension based om marriage needs to show less money, but is a lot more work for you and immigration. If you meet the criteria fro an extension based on retirement immigration will prefer you take that one.

(6) In case of marriage with a Thai lady, the husband who is an alien must have an average annual income of not less than 40,000 baht per month or a money deposit in a local Thai bank of not less than 400,000 baht for the past 2 months for expenses within a year.
