DETROIT, MICHIGAN (BNO NEWS) -- The Ford Motor Company on Monday unveiled two next-generation hybrid vehicles at the 2011 North American International Auto Show and will add some 7,000 new jobs in the United States.

Ford presented the C-MAX Hybrid, a full hybrid variant, and C-MAX Energi, its first-ever production plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, at the event. The two cars will be available in North America in 2012 and in Europe in 2013.

The two vehicles were based on the new Ford C-MAX five-passenger multi-activity vehicle and the next-generation cars offer high mileage and low emissions as well as distinctive body design and a flexible interior.

"C-MAX Energi and C-MAX Hybrid will be perfect for families looking to maximize their hybrid car experience," said Nancy Gioia, Ford director of Global Electrification. "Thanks to the versatile interior, these cars are going to appeal to environmentally conscious consumers who need room to grow."

The two C-MAX vehicles will be built alongside the all-new 2012 Ford Focus and Focus Electric at Ford's Assembly Plant in Wayne, Michigan, which uses solar energy to be powered in part. The European versions of the vehicles will be built at the Valencia facility in Spain.

In addition, as Ford is looking to expand after its sales were up nearly 20 percent last year, the automaker will add 7,000 new jobs through the end of next year. 1,800 of them will be at its Louisville, Kentucky plant.
