Police Closing Bars Early

Was out last night in bintabaht and the police are shutting everything down around 12am at the mo and the karokes / discos are not even opening. Aparently it's been happening all week and seems kinda strange as the law is 2am and it's high season. Doesn't look like the usual scanario, police needing more money to take the wife and kids to a buffet, so what excatally is going on? No one seems to know, not even the thai bar owners .......

Kinda silly considering it's high season and these bars are owned by thais also which are really struggling atm, not to mention HH is boring enough.

High season ends officially the 17 of January and the selling of alcohol in Thailand is officially 11AM to 2PM, 5PM to Midnight.

Royalty in town for 2 weeks is one rumour but needs confirming.

I was told it was due to the fact that HRM came down to the Hua Hin Palace about a week ago for a stay here. A Bar owner told me they were going to enforce midnight closing as long as he was in residence here.

This is hapening because the King is currentley at his residence in Hua Hin.

The bars have been ordered to close at 12 AM for 2 weeks and they have been closing early for around a week already so hopefully in another week things will be back to normal.

Law allows bars to be lisenced to sell alcohol until 1am, and nightclubs lisenced until 2am, including Hua Hin.
