KIRKUK, IRAQ (BNO NEWS) -- Six people were killed and at least 75 wounded after three car bomb shook the northern Iraq's oil-rich city of Kirkuk early on Wednesday, a source in Kirkuk's General Hospital said.

"Six persons, including two policemen and a child have been killed and 75 others, among them 7 women, were injured in the three explosions that took place in Kirkuk early in the day," the source told Aswat al-Iraq news agency.

A booby-trapped car blew off at dawn, close to the headquarters of the Assayish (Security) of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), whilst another car blew off close to Aqaba Bin-Nafi'e fillling station and a third went off close to the Disabled Office in western Kirkuk, a security source said.

Kirkuk province is populated by Arab, Kurds and Turkomans, which has made the capital the epicenter of ethnic tensions for a long time.
