MEXICO CITY (BNO NEWS) -- Eight young people were executed on Sunday by gunmen in the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl in Mexico City, newspaper La Jornada reported.

According to witnesses, the gunmen opened fire from three vans and attacked the youth. The bodies of seven people, six men and one woman between 16 and 25, were found dead on the sidewalk.

Later, police officers found another body of a woman who had several shots. The victim was naked on the street.

The killers have not been identified. Police said the incident could be part of a settling of accounts between rival gangs fighting for control of the city's drug market.

On Saturday, at least 14 people were killed during two separate attacks in Mexican nightclubs, located in the northern region of the country. At least six people were killed and another 25 injured in Guadalajara, Mexico's second largest city. In a separate incident, six women and two men were killed in the drug-infested city of Juárez.

More than 500 people dressed in white marched on Sunday morning in Guadalajara to demand peace. Hundreds of people also protested in Mexico City against the insecurity and violence affecting the country.
