VERACRUZ, MEXICO (BNO NEWS) -- Six bodiless heads and three bodies were found outside a Mexican security post belonging to the Department of Public Safety in a small town in the state of Veracruz, officials said Thursday.

The bodies were semi-nude and placed in an area covering approximately 100 meters (328 feet), under Prieto Bridge, which is located in the small town of Moralillo in the municipality of Panuco, in the northern region of Veracruz.

Local authorities said the heads and bodies were identified, and according to their reports, they were residents of the neighboring state of Tamaulipas, where, according to initial investigations, they were tortured and murdered.

In the past four months, the Panuco area has seen an increase in violence and clashes between organized crime groups and state and federal police. Officials believe the bodies were involved in the ongoing battles between criminal groups, 'The Gulf Cartel' and 'The Zetas.'

On November 2, 2010, a similar incident occurred when six bodies were placed in front of the same security post.
