webfact
Security concerns after woman gets onstage with PM By Atapoom Ongkulna The Nation A 46-year-old woman yesterday morning forced her way onstage with Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Bitec) to plead for help with her deafness. Security teams were called to an urgent meeting after the incident. Abhisit had been speaking to about 1,000 officials on the Social Development and Human Security Ministry's strategy to prevent teenage pregnancies. The woman, later identified as food vendor Kesarin Wutthiwong from Bangkok's Klong Toei district, got close to the prime minister, handed him a card and urged him to read it. The card, in Thai and English, outlined how she had been made deaf by gnathostomiasis, an infection of roundworm larvae. Astonished, Abhisit told her he would read the information she had given him and see what could be done. When security officials tried to remove the woman, she resisted, saying she did not want to harm anyone but only to ask for the prime minister's help. Kesarin later explained that she became deaf after the gnathostomiasis reached her brain in 2008, and she needed a cochlea implant, which she could not afford. After getting no help from the National Council on Social Welfare, she said, she wrote to Abhisit once at his residence and eight times at Government House but got no reply, so she came to appeal to him in person yesterday. The incident raised concerns over the security provided to the prime minister, and security officials held an urgent meeting at Government House. -- The Nation 2011-02-

Indeed, one would think that after the unbelievable incident in April 2009: that "security concerns" would have been corrected
keestha
Security in Thailand? I have to think of a public meeting in Khao Lak, in 2005 briefly after the tsunami hit. I was waiting in the entry hall for the speeches to begin, and the then prime minister (Thaksin) passed by me at a distance of less than three meters. There was no control whatsoever of people going into the building and what they could be carrying.

I was talking about http://www.disclose.tv/action/viewvideo/21409/Protesters_Attack_Thai_Prime_Minister_s_Limo/ ah yes, that was the other occurrence... this one happened earlier than the Bangkok attack... it's becoming an annual Red Shirt event: Red Shirt Protesters Attack Prime Minister’s car in Central Pattaya In the afternoon of 7th April 2009, a car driving Thailand's Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva, was attacked by a group of red-shirted anti-government protesters, whilst waiting at a red traffic light in the middle of Pattaya. The protesters managed to smash the rear window before the car continued on its journey. The Prime ministers driver was injured in the attack. The prime minister was on his way back to Bangkok from a weekly cabinet meeting at the Royal Cliff Hotel. He was also checking on preparations at the hotel which is the venue for this weekend’s Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) summit with its Plus Three and Plus Six dialogue partners. http://www.pattayadailynews.com/en/2009/04/07/red-shirt-protesters-attack-prime-minister%E2%80%99s-car-in-central-pattaya/
Payboy
After all this is the country where a domestic airport was allowed to operate for one day without a metal detector, because the detector was borrowed by a local university for their graduation ceremony.
