Which Visa Type To Apply For ?

Featured Replies

Hiya,

actually, I'm on a 1 year extension (Thai wife) which is due to expire next month.

Due to some investments I made, I don't have the required 400k on hand, so I don't qualify for a further extension.

As I live near Chiang Rai, I thought it was a good idea to apply for a new visa in Vientiane.

The question is: Which type of visa should I apply for ?

I understand that a multiple TR incl. extensions should get me out of trouble for 6 months, but given my marriage status, do I qualify for one ?

The other option is a non-O (90 days).

So which one to choose ?

You can get a 1-year multiple non-O in KL if you can show 100.000 baht in a bank and your marriage certificate.

A double entry Tourist Visa would give almost 6 months.

A Non Imm O Visa would give 90 days.

You may be able to get a 60 day extension from Immigration to visit your Wife.

KL Malaysia will issue a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa if you have 100,000 Baht in the bank. This would give up to 15 months but would need a border run every 90 days.

Thank you for the advice.

If I got it right, I will head to the Mae Sai immigration bureau, pay 1900 Baht in fees and get a 60 days extension ?

60 days should be enough to get my monnies back on the feet, so I can produce the 400k for a one-year extension.

From Police Order 777/2551

2.24 In the case of an alien

visiting a Thai spouse or child:

Permission

will be granted for a period of not more than 60 days at a time.

(1) Proof of relationship.

(2) In the case of a spouse, their marital relationship shall be de

jure (legitimate) and de facto.
