The Baht 800,000 For Retirement Visa

Recommended Posts

My Time Deposit is with HSBC, and when it matures the interest rate will be 0.4% pa. (3.5% fixed for last 3 years)

I see many signs at Thai Banks offering higher and different rates..from 1.5 to 2.25% pa

I have tried to get the details, everything is in Thai, well it is Thailand, and the staff can't help any more than a Thai brochure

Any suggestions please. ? Please don''t tell me to learn Thai..I'm English.

Immigration does not like time deposits, your 800,000 baht for a retirement extension of stay has to be readily available to spend.

Some immigration offices will allow and some will not.

I have just over the 800,000 in a Bangkok Bank time deposit. The interest goes up annually for three years. If I take money out of the acc during that period of time, the Interest just reverts back to the first year. I forget the details now, but we are not talking life changing amounts.

BKK Bank are advertising a tiered deposit rate on their main home page (in English) for 15 months - highest rate paid is 4.5%, average is 2.5%. There is a link to leave your contact details. Don't know if its the best rate in town or not...
