george
When building a house, marry or doing a business deal it's important that the date of the occation is "Wan Dee" (good/lucky day). How do you define a "Wan Dee"? Is it a buddhist thing? "Happy took wan", or is this really important?
meadish_sweetball
No, it's an astrology thing. Sometimes a Buddhist monk will be the one to consult the astrology charts for an auspicious (lucky) date, but this custom is not part of Buddhism as such. For the Thai belief system part of the custom, there's a whole list of what not to do on a certain day of the week - I only remember 2 - no haircut on Wednesday, can't wear new things on Saturday, something like that.... the scouser
Upon which one day of the month is it acceptable to have a shower? Scouse.
steveromagnino
I think Thai custom is ok for shower everyday. Some English custom and some European custom seem to have some sort of similar belief to Thais, because many I have met seem to have an aversion to showering more than once every few days
kriswillems
I hate this "wan dee" system because there seem to be much more bad days than good days )

aletta
The fun starts when you are keen to do something now and the monk says the auspicious day is in three months time.
