KARACHI, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- At least six people were killed and three others injured overnight in Karachi, Pakistan after protests turned violent following the Supreme Court's decision to dismiss Chairman of the National Accountability Bureau Justice Deedar Hussain Shah, local media reported Friday.

At least 13 vehicles were torched, while shootings were reported in Karachi's Garden, Sachal Goth, and Malir areas, the Express Tribune reported. Angry protesters also indiscriminately fired against shops in the Sindh metroplois, causing panic throughout the area.

Protesters also attacked public transportation routes, as at least two buses were torched at the Boat Basin and in Ranchore Lines.

Violence prompted schools, public transportation, shops, and gas stations in Karachi to shut down.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain from London expressed grief over the incidents, calling for the people of Karachi to remain calm.
