I prefer Niall Ferguson's book 'Is the West History?' If you want a more balanced view of the only democracy in a sea of medieval barbarism.

http://www.channel4.com/programmes/civilization-is-the-west-history/4od

I could not watch the 'book'. channel 4 doesn't start to play in my area

A book about a master race and all others are barbarians and subhumans? Sounds very balanced.

There you go again. Master race, huh? I am sorry, but I think you are revealing yourself.

Back to the film issue, I think any film deserves to be seen by its audience. I don't have an opinion about UN showing partly because I don't know what the UN policy is on showing films. I usually don't think of them as a film festival venue. But in any case, even if the film is biased, it's out there, people can see it, and if there is stuff in the content that is unfairly biased, people can and will broadcast that. Like the series The Promise.

It surely is not beyond the wit of man to change their apparent I.P location, but I note that without even taking the trouble to try you are coming out with Master race bullshit. B)

I have no clue who he means with "the only democracy " and additional i have no clue what the "sea of medieval barbarism." could be.

The medieval times weren't so barbarian at all and Claude Lévi-Strauss says: "The barbarian is the one who believes in barbary"

Whoever you did here declare to a "sea of medieval barbarism." it sounds like racist bullshit to me. That are the words you can find of right wing extremist websites.

The new anti-Semitism involves discrimination against the right of the Jewish people to live as an equal member of the family of nations -- the denial of, and assault upon, the Jewish people's right even to live -- with Israel as the "collective Jew among the nations."

...

To express any support for Israel or any feeling for the right of a Jewish state to exist produces denunciation, even contempt.

From the link supplied above.

Yes, it doesn't matter whether you call this new antisemitism, old antisemitism, or Spongebob antisemitism. This modern phenom which is real, which demonizes the overwhelming support of global Jews towards at least the EXISTENCE of the Jewish state of Israel is without a doubt antisemitism. I don't have the link and I'm sure you can find similar thoughts elsewhere, but I first read this from a very left wing Israeli source, from an Israeli Jew VERY critical of Israeli policies ... the thought being, anyone who denies the right of Israel to exist as a Jewish state but at the same time is totally OK with the over FIFTY Islamic states in the world is an antisemite, by definition.

If criticism of Israel's right to even exist as a Jewish state is what the anti-Israel people mean by "any" criticism of Israel being antisemitic, that isn't "any" -- that is total.

Naturally, the only source available at this point is Palestinian..

Here is one of the very similar comments on this website. I think that I will wait for a legitimate source to verify this "news". :whistling:

Will the filthy zionist Abbas with the ugly mustache and ugly haircut who cant even speak correctly also be invited by the US and the zionist entity to approve their school books? Mahmoud Abbas and the PA have no shame in them, just like the arab regimes who allow "the zionist white man" to tell them they are less worthy and as such they must obey. Is it not a disgrace that an Arab who wants to visit her son in europe has to go to a million interviews and wait to be approved before she can come (if they let her) while the white european can visit the arab world by just booking a ticket! The arab world is filled with foreign spy cells especially from europe, the zionist entity and the US. Where is the arab dignity? How could we allow this? As for the killing of this settler family, what were they doing in stolen land in the first place? Secondly, this crime was clearly an internal zionist issue, and not an attack by a Palestinian.

Good for you, I would have thought that waiting would only have been appropriate for us lesser beings who don't already have this thing figured out.

1. For me is Jewishness not bounded to the state of Israel. There live Jews all over the world, not only in Israel. And these Jews are not in the duty of Israel or have to be comrades of the Zionists.

2. I am well aware that anti-semitism exist.

Anti-semitism definded as prejudice against or hostility towards Jews often rooted in hatred of their ethnic background, culture, and/or religion. Its an ugly thing. Intellectuals, university scholars, media people and people in the media, actors, businessmen, salesmen, banker, orthodoxs, physicians, politicians, the common man down the road, people who go to the synagogue, Goldsteins , Rubenstein and Weinsteins. Whatever a Jew does, If others know that these people are Jews (or conspiracy nutcases suspect them to be Jewish) there is a chance that some of these others start to 'have a beef' with them, insulting them, bully them, attack them. there are viloent hate crimes attack on property, health and life. the term Jew is used as slur, someone can become now the Jewish professor, the Jewish banker, the Jewish liberal and so on and that are all insults and signs of hate speech.

2.1. That was around since ages in the West and still is and 80 years ago this kind of hatred resulted in the holocaust.

3. Its about hate. Prejudice against someone, rooted in hatred of their ethnic background, culture, and/or religion. If that someone has a different skin colour is it racism. If that someone is a muslim is islamophobia. If its a foreigner is it xenophobia. Its hate and its an ugly thing. exclusion and discrimination of human beings.

3.1.If that someone is is a Jew its antisemitism.

4. Israel is a state. Just like the USA is a state, or UK, or Iran or Mongolia and it should be allowed to criticizes this state just like other states. Zionism is a political movement, something like the green party, the Christian democrats, the socialists, the abolitionist, liberals, extremists whatever are political movements. and it should be allowed to criticizes this movement just like other political movements.

5. For me is Jewishness not bounded to the state of Israel. A Jew is an individual. Meanwhile an Israeli is a person with a certain nationality (see 3.) a zionist is a follower of a political movement by own choice. (see 4.)

Antisemitism is a hate crime. The significance to point out that it is a crime comes with the holocaust, it is of concern for all Jews. Zionism is it not. With new terms like new antisemitism and redefinition of anti-semitism as anti-zionism, zionists try to take all Jews in responsibility for zionist activities.

A suspect is under investigation in the murders and he is not Palestinian. He is Asian and is alleged by a neighbor of the slain family to have threatened the family after he was not paid 10,000 shekels in wages owed him for work performed.

Naturally, the only source available at this point is Palestinian and I have no interest in arguing its validity, only that the investigation is in the early stages and all handling of the matter be done in consideration of the early stages and not jump to silly conclusions that could lead to irreparable damage.

Motive, opportunity and cui bono fit the new suspect more so than an unknown Palestinian terrorist, I doubt that Palestine, at least the leadership, be they Hamas or whomever would think this is a great time for a major terrorist attack. Palestine has recently gotten sympathy from the international community and doing anything to conflict with that recognition would just be plain stupid. I am not saying however, that they are not capable of doing something completely stupid.

The New Anti-Semitism

Hatred of Jews has reached new heights in Europe and many points south and east of the old continent. Last year I chaired a blue-ribbon committee of British parliamentarians, including former ministers and a party leader, that examined the problem of anti-Semitism in Britain. None of us are Jewish or active in the unending debates on the Israeli-Palestinian question.

Our report showed a pattern of fear among a small number of British citizens -- there are around 300,000 Jews in Britain, of whom about a third are observant -- that is not acceptable in a modern democracy. Synagogues attacked. Jewish schoolboys jostled on public transportation. Rabbis punched and knifed. British Jews feeling compelled to raise millions to provide private security for their weddings and community events. On campuses, militant anti-Jewish students fueled by Islamist or far-left hate seeking to prevent Jewish students from expressing their opinions.

More worrisome was what we described as anti-Jewish discourse, a mood and tone whenever Jews are discussed, whether in the media, at universities, among the liberal media elite or at dinner parties of modish London. To express any support for Israel or any feeling for the right of a Jewish state to exist produces denunciation, even contempt.

This " Holocaust survivor " Elie Wiesel is indeed exactly that. A weazel. How dare he preach about " discrimination against Jews to live as an equal". Anybody who has ever been to Israel and Palestine [apart from the plethera of one eyed willy's] will quickly see that Israelis live a lifestyle that Palestinians can only dream of. What a joke.

Witnesses and evidence showed there were 2 men not 1.

Westbank is not exactly flooded with Asians running around.

So even one was take that site serious or as a credible source, it would clearly show that Palestinian Authority are totally and utterly useless, since they can not even arrest 1 person who would stand out like a sore thumb.

Little like Palestinian official making a statement that France is to recognize Palestine, yet France denies any such promises or statements.

That only started after a terrorist organization was voted in to power in Gaza in 2006 and started importing tons of weapons and munitions. What were they doing to better their situation for 50 years previously - other than more useless violence?

Egyptian security officials on Tuesday said that Egypt's army captured five vehicles smuggling weapons into the country from Sudan, and apparently heading to Gaza, AP reported.

They said the trucks, which were captured inside Egypt near the Sudanese border, carried large quantities of mortars, rocket propelled grenades, rifles and explosives, reported AP.

The officials said the weapons were headed to Hamas in Gaza through smuggling tunnels.

Good to see Hammas is preparing for peace talks and clearly cares about the well being of its people, i guess that would explain where all the money goes:whistling:

Why would you or anyone else care what they have done to be better. It is no ones business but theirs and any comment that they couldn't prosper smacks of a superiority complex.

If the western world don't like which govt a country votes in then they shouldn't be pushing for a democracy until they are ready for it.

Who are we in oz to say that it was ok to take the land off the aboriginals because they had done nothing with it anyway.

What was before that you ask??? War, war, war and repeated incursion by Israel.Rape, killing, stealing houses and land. Lets be realistic here. It is in Israels best interest to starve of the Palestinians. A strong Palestine would have Israel shitting in thier pants. As for Egypt. That is way :offtopic: .

You can only kick a dog so many times before it bites. As I have stated before in other threads that it would be in Israels best interest to come to the party and start following popular world opinion before the Arab world, after the ongoing revolution is over, joins together and pushes Israel into the sea. If you think I am being a little over the top then that is ok. But deep down you know that this scenerio is a valid one. Soon Palestine will indeed be free with the support of the entire world sha allah[god willing] and it will be israel that finds itself without a seat when the music stops.
