March 21, 201115 yr Does anybody know where I can buy a Slingbox in Thailand? Preferably either in Phuket or Chiang Mai - Bangkok at a push - or online.
March 21, 201115 yr Why would you want to buy one in Thailand? Typically the machines are set up in the media serving country, like the UK or US, where the unit is hooked up to a private host cable tv account. The machines are usually bought directly from the company slingmedia online, but sometimes decent used ones can be found on craigslist, etc. Edited March 21, 201115 yr by Jingthing

March 22, 201115 yr Fair enough but it might be faster to have him buy one in the UK and mail it to you

Errrr ........ because I want to use it in Thailand ........:jap: I already have one in UK, but a friend wants to watch Thai TV in UK Sorry, my error. I thought maybe you didn't get the concept of where the host machine needs to be. Most expats in Thailand do want to stream from the west. I don't think you will find a box in Thailand.

You won't so long as you have him ship it via regular postage mail, with a low priced customs declaration and stay away from DHL, FEDEX, etc. Just remember, unless you have a DVR here in Thailand, the time difference might make his viewing difficult
March 22, 201115 yr I've never seen them for sale here. I use a shipping companyto receive boxes here a few times a month. You might find it useful. What I would worry about is your uplink speed. My Slingbox in the states is using 2-3mbps of the uplink to turn a decent picture here.. and that kind of bandwidth is rarely available in Thailand. Even my 16mbps line only allows 1mbps up..
