Surat Airport

I drove past the airport yesterday 2pm on highway 41 on my way from Phuket to Bangkok.

I could see no reason why planes would not be landing (though I did not see any come over) and traffic seemed to be moving freely onto the main various roads leading into Surat. It was raining constantly (heavy drizzle) and the waters were very close to highway level with some waters passing over the main roads and many side sois under about half to 1 metre of water. I could see that if the rain returned to monsoon proportions for a few hours then there would be more flash flooding - the sort that flooded Highway 41 on Tuesday and effectively cut South Thailand off from North Thailand [because highway 4 was also impassable]

Not pleasant to drive past lots of flooded out homes and businesses though. Not a happy place to go unless you really need to I would guess.
