Both Emirates and Etihad really pack the passengers in to economy from BKK to Dubai/Abu Dhabi (777) unless you get the A380 which I can not comment on. My choice would be Qatar every time to the middle east. Have a look at airline quality for some reviews.

What about Air Berlin then take ICE to Frankfurt.

If between those two only I would take Qatar, as Etihad are getting bad reviews on airlinequality.com

If you don't mind Cairo, why not try egyptair, they are much cheaper, I did a quick

check and they are coming in around 26,000baht, whilst the others mentioned are over

32,000baht.

Qatar =5 star airline, vs Egyptair =3 star airline.

Qatar is the Gulf States version of Singapore Airlines. What's to consider, except price sensitivity?

True, but the price is 6000 baht between Egyptair and Etihad, and 8000baht between Egyptair and Qatar. ALthough their websites might be cheaper.

6000baht around 140 Euros

8000baht around 186 Euros

Etihad flies with a B777/300 between Bangkok and Abu Dhabi in a 3/4/3 configuration.

Qatar seems to fly B777/300 in 3/3/3 config, if so I would choose Qatar.

P.S. Personally I fly business class with Etihad, real flat beds and excellent service, but it seems pricing is ever increasing, whilst I paid 55k 4 years ago I paid 83K this May and promotion right now until 31st August is 93K. Checking October prices I see 106 to 128K depending day in week, I very well might change airline.

I understand Qatar only has flat beds in it's B777, not the Airbuses.

Qatar every time. Book directly from their website and you won't find anything cheaper!

I use them all the time and have only ever had a pleasant flight. One slight downside though is that Doha airport is not the best..!!

Qatar Airlines gets our vote - my daughter is (literally) just driving up from Chiang mai, after a round trip back to the UK (to Manchester) via Bangkok and Doha with the main carrier as Qatar. Won hands down on staff friendliness and helpfulness, quality of food -she's kept the menu to show me - and efficiency over B.A, KLM and quite a few other airlines she's travelled with. She travels economy class. The only slight criticism she has was that at Doha, you have to transfer between terminal/plane by bus. It was a little bit more expensive than her other two options, but that was because she wanted to fly from Chiang mai, going through Immigration there and just navigate Suv. BKK as a transfer passenger without the possible problem of lengthy Immigration delays and luggage to move around.
