Rules For Taking Religious Images Or Amulets Out Of Thailand

I heard that it is not allowed to bring images of Buddha out of the country. Is this true, and does this also apply to images of monks, for example a necklace with an image of a praying monk (not Buddha)?

If someone in your family or even a monk gives you one as a present for spiritual protection, can you take that home out of Thailand?

Thanks in advance for all advice

as far as I know ,small personal items are ok - my wife always travels wearing her buddha amulet for example - What is not ok is exporting large images ,not long ago photos appeared of a house (I think in Sweden) which had imported large statues of Buddha, cut the heads off to use to decorate a garden wall, that is a no no....also crass, apalling bad taste and very very disrespectful........
