Maybe you should advertise in a Thai newspaper since your offering a Thai type salery.

Seconded, as you are not providing a work permit the work would be illegal for a farang

Definitely a ludicrous salary level, when you consider that 9-5 Pacific Standard Time is Midnight to 8 AM in Thailand. :o

Any Thai person who is capable enough in English to be a convincing salesperson will want / expect more than this. Experience in our company has found that 14-15K is the starting point for Thai people with international experience (educated overseas) and the language, computer and administrative skills you are seeking.

Bino,  don't forget the 25USD extra for every sale.

If a telephone call lasts 15 minutes and you get a 50 percent success rate....

Right- that is a sweet deal if all of the call are "incoming" from interested parties who are seeking out your product, and the phone is ringing off the hook. If an employee could be doing 4 15 minute calls in an hour for 8 hours, an employee could be earning $400 per day. More than $8000 (320 K THB) per month if you are working a 5 day (night) week.

If the commission scheme / amount of incoming calls really is this sweet, the $250 salary is a laugh. Half a day's commission. The OP would be better off offering a straight commission based pay, or offering an incredible salary (80-100K THB) and keeping the lion's share of the commission money.

Somehow, I just don't think it is that easy.

The OP said that the employee would be expected to "Make Calls". If this is the case, it would probably take a lot longer than 15 minutes to fully explain the company / product etc. to an interested party and get a sale (dependent on the quality of the "leads"). A ten percent success rate would be phenomenal on outgoing / "cold" calls. Five percent more likely to be the maximum.

Having said all that... even getting one sale a day would add up to more than $500 / mo, combined with the salary would be over 30K THB per month. Not bad if the OP can find the right Thai person for the job, which I think will be tough because most Thai people are too nice / pleasant / demure for agressive cold call telephone sales! :o

Maybe he should describe the product to us so we get an idea of what he is trying to sell.

I use to be an army recruiter. We made cold calls all the time. Every morning we call the college kids for 2 hours. In the afternoon we called the high school kids. At night, we called anyone we missed.

Cold calling for an unpopular/boring product is not fun. I wonder what kind of product it would take to make cold calling fun.

Here are some ideas....

o The Playboy phone card that gives you 1 hour of browse time on their website

o Viagra Enhanced Jelly Beans in all the tropical flavors

o The beer card which now offers free home delivery

o The Table Dance Discount card to use in all your favorite strip clubs

o The Single Again Divorce Card: If you don't get the house, car, and kids our services are free

Can anyone think of anymore??? :o

For a telesales, the following rule of thumb apply (generally referred to as the numbers game:

100 dials result in 20 contacts (getting the right person, the decision maker)

100 contacts result in 10-15 positive reactions.(possible sales or appointments)

100 positives result in 12-14 actual sales.

Now do the math.... :o

Of course there are small variations depending on the product/service you want to sell.

I agree with most above posts - the salary is unreasonable and this board is probably not the right place for this offer.

My experience with Thai salespeople is that they usually prefer a high salary with a low (if any) comission to a low salary with a high comission.

If you require someone with very good English (rare) which should work difficult hours, 15K is quite low. 10K is a joke. Employers in Thailand need to pay a high premium for good English.

Those with diplomas from foreign countries will mostly not be happy with less than 20K. I was interviewing graduates from overseas universities, who did not work a single job in their life, asking me for a starting salary of 25K.

Either consider to raise your salaries (you can post in newspapers - Bangkok Post, The Nation, or websites such as JobsDB.com) or -

go to India for staff with good English and low salaries. Hey, I know people using Burmese for similar jobs as well! Another option (yet to be discovered, IMO) is Sri Lanka.

Where can I find THese Thai Newspapers / good Thai Classifieds

?

I think you should consider seeking out bulletin boards / spreading the word around NEP / Cowboy / Patpong.

Someone who has been working there for a long time and not getting many "sales" now might be interested in your offer, and would likely meet all of your qualifications;

Already working in "International Trading"

Able to speak English and probably many more languages,

Persuasive and friendly,

OK with working nights,

Used to low salary / high commission,

Experienced in sending emails to farangs asking for money.

Sounds perfect! :o

IMO the salary is a bit low and I consider myself rather stingy. We had a falang (American with German and Spanish fluency) fellow on board for about a year awhile back and we paid him 25k a month, no commission. We let him go when he had fulfilled his purpose (establishing South American contacts).

Good hunting! Plenty of desperate folks out there so don't give up!
