If I wanted to change the name on a condo unit from my name to my wifes with no payment for the unit changing hands would the land office still want their pound of flesh in full? reduced tax rate? not taxable?

If you are asking if there is a gift tax, then the answer is No. The remaining taxes will depend largely on the appraised value and how long you owned the condominium and could be 3.3%. Transfer fee is fixed at 2% of appraised value. Stamp Duty of 0.5% may apply.

If you are legally married it doesn't matter in which name the condo is registered, you both own half of it, this provided the condo was purchased while you were married.
