August 26, 201114 yr Hello, I wonder where I might find tables such as the one I attached to help me learn the Thai alphabet? Are there any for download on the internet? like, big size and good resolution, so they can be printed out nicely?
August 26, 201114 yr Google is your friend. Choose images and search for Thai alphabet. Edit: Most bookshops will have a poster for around 25 baht.

August 26, 201114 yr flashcards here. You should really also be learning which consonant class each one sits in as you learn them, tho'...
August 28, 201114 yr พยัญชนะ payanchana = consonant Here's a nifty little mnemonic for remembering the middle-class consonants in Thai: ไก่จิกเด็กตายบนปากโอ่ง gai jik dek dtaai bohn bpaak o:hng "Chicken pecks a child to death over the mouth of a clay pot."
August 28, 201114 yr Here's a niftier rule for remembering the middle consonants - unaspirated oral stops (= unaspirated plosives or affricates), i.e. the oral stops no-one transliterates with 'h'. If the next consonant in alphabetical order after an unambiguous mid consonant gets transliterated as consonant plus 'h' (ฮ is not high), then it's high, and so is its successor if it's made from its predecessor by stretching the tail (ฝ from ผ) and or adding a dent (obsolete ฃ from ข). Then there are just four more high consonants, and they are next to one another in alphabetical order - ศ ษ ส ห. The other consonants are low. Thus: ก /k/ mid, ข /kh/ high, ฃ /kh/ high จ /c/ (or /tɕ/) mid, ฉ /ch/ (or /tɕh/) high ช /ch/ (or /tɕh/) aspirated and not a modified letter, so low. ฎ /d/ mid, ฏ /t/ mid, ฐ /th/ high, ฑ as /th/ aspirated, not modified from ฐ, so low. ฑ as /d/ is mid. ฑ is ambiguous, so ฒ /th/ is low. ด /d/ mid, ต /t/ mid, ถ /th/ high, ท /th/ aspirated, not modified from ถ, so low. บ /b/ mid, ป /p/ mid, ผ /ph/ high, ฝ /f/ high อ /ʔ/ (glottal stop, null transliteration) mid, ฮ /h/ low You may prefer to use the periodic table of the consonants instead.
August 28, 201114 yr thanks biff, but I need visual support and a meaning for the sounds, otherwise they remain just noise for me. ok, I upload the file with the graphic table No problem, it's the opposite for me, pictures of things don't help it to stick in my mind. I converted these videos to a file format that worked on my phone and played them over and over when I had a spare few moments. Wow... that's really cool, thanks.. You're welcome
September 4, 201114 yr "Chicken pecks a child to death over the mouth of a clay pot." I'd laugh, but my chicken really did that.
