Four Star    :o

What are you trying to say that Orbitz is wrong!?! No way, can't be. Read some of the comments from the other thread, four bad, two good. 92 stories tall, near World trade centre. How is the hood?

Give it a try and get back to us with a report.

Baiyoke is ok, it is a bit of a novelty, "The tallest hotel in Asia". But for the price you are paying....around 3,000 baht for the higher floor rooms, there is better out there...I have stayed there a few times, I was upgraded to one of the suites with the glass roof atrium, watching the sunset with a cocktail as all the Bangkonians are stuck in traffic trying to get home is quite a sight from the 56th floor..that was a good deal, however there is a poor channel selection on the tv, the air conditioner filters are filthy and after walking around Bangkok all day you do want some cool clean air, switching elevators at the 18 th floor is impractical, getting back to your hotel on foot during the daytime is like being a salmon swimming upstream if you are going through Pratunam market..... However, the dinner Buffet is nothing fancy but there is a large selection of Indian, Italian, Seafood, European, and Thai food. The Breakfast is pretty good as well. Location is 50/50, if you are shopping for cheap clothes..well you are right in the center of the garment district. If you are looking for something a bit more elaborate you are 10-15 mins away by taxi.... :o I sound like Lonely Planet.. :D

I agree with Pluto. The hotel is just ok. Better to be had for same price in Silom/Surawong area for the same price. The location is just bad. I lived behind Baiyoke 1 and 2 on Soi 19 for 4 years before I could not stand the traffic, noise and just general congestion everyday. Getting a taxi to Pratunam is a nightmare at anytime of day as the taxi just don't want to go. 5 to 7 pm you can forget it if you coming from Silom or Sukhumvit as even if you get a taxi expect to be in traffic for 1 plus hour or more. Weekends are worse because of the market where they sell cheap clothing that is of "cheap quality" Get something close to the skytrain and you will be glad you did.

Staying there on the 6th November
