RioMist
I have a hard drive which I have been using to transfer files from my Windows PC. I now want to use a mac PC with this Hard Drive. However when I try to transfer files from the Mac to this hard drive my Mac PC won't allow. Do I have to change any settings in the hard drive? If so how do I do it? Thanks for any assistance. Supernova
AFAIK, Macs cannot write to NTFS partitions. To make the drive "writable" by both Windows and Mac operating systems, format the drive using the FAT32 filesystem. Remember to backup your data beforehand! Tywais
It may be possible using NFS. There are 3rd party apps that allow MacOS to read/write NTFS files.

rakman
It may be possible using NFS. There are 3rd party apps that allow MacOS to read/write NTFS files. NFS is a server function that "translates" NTFS (Win) files to a binary stream and the NFS client receives and stores the data on MAC HFS. In OS X 10.3.x(Panther) and 10.4.x(Tiger), Apple has made it simple to connect to server/shares. Use the Win machine to "share" the USB disk then use Finder on the MAC to map the share. Much easier than installing NFS on the Win.
