Has Anyone Seen This Type Of Cushion For Sale In Bangkok

Featured Replies

Has anyone seen these for sale in Bangkok? http://www.makemeheal.com/mmh/product.do?id=10052

I just found out I have torn ACL and surgery not possible at the present time. I've tried two Thai back cushions (placed triangle up and triangle down to try to square them) but they are too high and pillows don't give enough support.

I have one of these back home and checked with UPS...it would cost $400 (from US to Bangkok) because of the dimensions. I'm not going to waste money on that and also can't tolerate the flight to retrieve mine as bending my knee at 90 degrees for 16+hours would be too painful.

Just stow your carry-on bag in the overhead bin. Hence leave the space under the seat in front you vacant and you can stretch your legs into the space.

Nor are you required to stay in your seat for for 16+ hours. Listen for this announcement: You may move about the cabin freely once the captain has turned off the seat belt sign.

A couple of thoughts here...

My wife works in the Orthopedic Department of one of the private hospitals in BKK. I showed her the photo you linked and asked her if the doctors in her department prescribed/used that kind of cushion... She said she hadn't seen anything exactly like that used....

But, I know from her, the doctors in the various hospital orthopedic departments are clued in to the various equipment and assistive device providers... So if you haven't already, you might make an appointment with one of the better orthopedic departments, explain your situation, and ask them if they can suggest/obtain for you anything that would be appropriate for your condition...prior to surgery.

Separately, I routinely ship various things from the U.S. to BKK for home use... I took the dimensions of the item you linked above, added a bit in all directions for the box, guessed at a weight of 15 lbs, and used a shipping service calculator one of my providers uses... That showed various DHL and Fed Ex shipping rates from the U.S. to BKK from about $140 to $160..depending on which company and service type is chosen. That's a pretty far distance from the $400 amount you referenced via UPS...

Why don't you try your friendly upholstery shop? They have the foam, the fabric to cover it and the necessary skills to make it for you. After all one of the things that Thailand has is cheap labor.

Yep show a Thai upholstery shop that photo and thy will make you one and it will be relatively cheap depending on what you choose to cover it with.

Thanks for the replies. This is what I am going to do.
