A Warning To Anyone Considering Going To A Chiropractor In Bangkok

I am a chiropractor from the US and a former employee of a company called ******.*****is a chain of chiropractic offices in Bangkok with two branches. Both branches are run by the same family, one branch is run by a business woman and the other by her brother. Stay away from this company. Neither one of the owners are doctors and they don't know the first thing about chiropractic, nor do they seem to care.

One of the first things I think everyone should know is that the owners have put video cameras (with audio capability) in every treatment room. At least this was the case when I left the company. I don't know if this is illegal in Thailand, but it is certainly unethical, and that money should have been spent on much needed chiropractic equipment.

You should also know that the doctors that work for ****** are often discouraged from performing effective therapies, usually soft tissue therapies, for no reason that I could ever figure out. It seems that the owners and mangers believe they know more about treating patients than the doctors, and that the doctors are simply a formality and a marketing tool.

One of the biggest complaints from both doctors and patients of ******** is the lack of consistent doctor care. Patients are assigned to doctors at the whim of managers and often switched in the middle of a treatment plan. Patients complain, of course, but are often lied to and told that a doctor is on vacation or is too busy to see them. I can only speculate why this is done, but the owners make their money up front and pay the doctors for treatments rendered later. The owners make more money if patients are not seen, so frustrating a patient into not wanting to come back would benefit the clinic owners in the short term.

Adding to the problem is the fact that there is a high turn over rate for doctors with this company, due to their unethical practices and poor treatment of doctors. The company seems to find this acceptable, but this is the antithesis of good patient care.

To add to the problem even further, the company will never ever give a refund, no matter what. Once they have your money, there is no way to get it back. The sales staff will insist you buy large packages or start you off with a smaller introductory package and then try to sell you a larger one after that. If the treatment isn't working, too bad for you, because they already have your money.

The mentality of the owners, most management, and even some of the staff is extremely unprofessional and boarders on malicious toward patients. On more than one occasion I watched a particular manager become hostile with a patient and yell at them, telling them to "shut up". He would later brag about his actions. I also watched this same manager come to me and tell me how he was going to sell a large package of treatments to a patient and how he was going to "totally f*** them". I can't tell you how disturbing I found this all to be.

All that being said almost all the doctors I met and a majority of the staff were good people who had the good intentions, but the higher up the ladder you went the worse things seemed to be.

You may get good treatment at *******, I'm not saying it doesn't happen. What I am saying is that I saw enough unethical, unprofessional, and amoral behavior at this company to warrant concern for any potential patient. There are much better clinics in Bangkok to visit, ones run by doctors, without the same problems you will most likely encounter at *******.

Post edited to remove name of the company due to legal liability issues for Thai Visa.
