Looks like I need to escape Bangkok for at least a couple of weeks. Anybody know of any guesthouses or hotels that have opened in the last month or so? 600-1000 baht per night I guess.

I've found that anything not brand new in that price range is a gamble...... China Garden looked promising, but they are full for a month! That's the sort of place I'm looking for though.

There is Liberty Mansion in S Pattaya Soi 17, its an older place but under new ownership, the rooms have just recently been re done, its part of a new sports bar (Lion Pub). I have not stayed there as I live round the corner but looks OK, also about 100m from this is Caddy Shack that also has rooms. Link for Liberty Mansions as it is a new web site My link .

Just off Jomtien Beach Road a few (about 50) meters before soi 12.

Quite new, nice rooms, very nice Thai couple running the place. I paid 800/night.

Someone on a similar quest booked into Robin's Nest on Soi Diana for about 11K/month the other day.

Given the incredible influx of Bangkokians since then I suspect that he is pleased he got here early!

Diana Dragon still has a sign up for 600/night incl wifi, pool use and buffet breakfast.

He now runs a small restaurant across the road in the new shop houses.

The amount of people in Pattaya right now you will be lucky to find a table to sleep under.
