Hello Thai Visa members~

We live in Nonthaburi and my Thai friend needs to apply for a first time passport to travel to Laos next week. We thought he would be o.k with is i.d card but as we're traveling through the country for 10 days now understand he needs a passport. My questions are as follows~

1. Where can he go? Is Chang Wattana still open? I understand there is an immigration office set up for Nonthaburi near Tiwanon...but will they process Thai passport apps?

2. Does he need anything more than I.D Card, Divorce papers & Tambien Ban?

3. Do you think it's possible to have the passport in his hand by next Tuesday if he starts today?

Thank you for any questions answered~ nothing is easy in the current flooding situation and we were really ready to get the heck outta here for a bit to try and relax our brains.... hoping we can get a passport in hand B)

Thank you so much Merian!!! Are you sure he doesn't need his house registration or Tambien Ban?? It is a very long way for him to travel to be turned away. I thank you so much for the info.... you are awesome!!!!

Take all that he has, ID, tambien ban, anything else? More is better, especially if some item is needed.

This might answer your Q but I can't read it:

Thank you Thanyanburi... I had found that info too...but think that maybe the passport that is issued quickly go one day pick up the next may only need the i.d card ~ and is probably what Merian posted about is considered called a "temporary passport" and it's a different color...green I believe, and is good for one year. Our problem is he is not in posession of his Tambien Ban and would need to spend another day traveling for a copy of that as well as the passport. He did get ahold of someone at the foreign ministry who said I.D card is all he needs so we're going with that.... hopefully he will not get there and suddenly need the tambien ban...but I wouldn't be at all surprised! Thanks for your help!

I have helped three Thai nationals to obtain passports at the Bang Na office and all that was required to obtain a full passport was the ID card. No other documentation was requested or offered.
