Earlier today, Lopburi3 and others were kind enough to give me valuable advice on the "admitted until" date that Bangkok immigration would give me on my locally extended Non Immigrant "O" ( Retirement ) Visa that expires on December 15th on my return from a "visa run" cum holiday to Penang ( although the answer was not what I wanted to hear ) on December 11th.

I have seen that a Tourist Visa can be issued by the Thai Consulate in Penang ( provided a flight ticket out of the Kingdom is to hand ) that will give UK passport holders a +60 day leave to stay on their arrival in Thailand which may be extended by a further 30 days (?). My question ; when I apply for the Tourist Visa in Penang ( on, say, December 8th ) , will the fact that my Non-Immigrant "O" is active until 15th December cause a problem ( even if I explain that I will not extend it further ) ?

Any other suggestions would be very welcome.

thanks, Brian B - Chumphon
