Laos Next Week

Featured Replies

Gonna try and get a tourist visa in Laos next, does anyone know if they are free again? If not whats the current price of doubles...?

Man I so hope they arent going on tight at the moment...

Not a clue what's going on right now.

They came out with a statement around 10 days ago saying that they were looking to the possibility of making the Tourist Visa's free again for a limited period but there's been complete silence since this, not a word, so it's anyone's guess!

I think there was a meeting today of some sort regarding what measures they could take to try and entice tourists back again after the floods but it could be the same as the before-mentioned statement and just hear nothing again about it.

Believe we will know when/if there is a change - each entry is 1,000 baht - and believe they are indeed checking passports for previous visas.

mmm well i got two tourist x2 previous but didnt use both entries on both. Plus I have 1 non-imm b and two non imm o's from Hull.

I know its hard to guess but with only 4 previous visa's do you think I might be ok? And if they refuse a double will they at least give me a single?

Yes, obviously we will know if/when there is a change in waiving Tourist Visa fees as it would be a bit pointless to change it and not tell anyone

The point i'm making is that they make these statements then it just goes silent and hear nothing more about them. It's almost 2 weeks ago now the thread was on here about the Government possibly waiving Tourist Visa fees to try to entice more to come back but there's been nothing at all since. It looks like this was just a thought that must have been discarded as there's been no update or further news whatsoever. :(

They brought the proposal to Yingluck but she hasn't approved it yet, I assume they have more important things to deal with for now.

Oh yes, i fully understand they have many other things that are either more or equally important.

It's just that the original headline regarding this subject actually stated it was "urgent". Now to me urgent is something that requires immediate attention /dealing with, not just to be left for almost 2 weeks and say nothing whilst other things will be getting dealt with...or have i got the complete wrong meaning of the word "urgent"?

Mind you, TIT. sometimes their meanings ARE very different to how i'd maybe see it :D

Free or not... Whatever?!?

If one thousand baht per entry is going to make a big hole in your pocket, you'd better [auto-censored]...

I'm looking at it slightly different than the Op as i'm in the UK right now and the triple entry is around £100 all in!

To be perfectly honest, i've got the money to pay for it and much more besides :D Just seems a bit daft to spend it then find out 2 days later the fee's been waived and it's around 5000 baht that could've been spent whilst over there on whatever i choose.... :D

Agree cool.gif

When it s free, it means they want tourist.it will be in fact a 180 degree turn, and Thailand will have to accept than some people come to work illegaly.you can nothave everything.tourist with it s illeglal worker or not illeglas and no tourism.thailand mfa,it s up to you.

They are giving out doubles I just got one last week but be warned 4+ stamps might get rejected and if you have 2+ (even 1) they will put a nice little red stamp across the top of the visa saying this person has used too many tourist visas to stay in Thailand. You can use on of those visa run services for 5000baht(food/lodging/Lao visa/Transportation/paperwork) 1 entry or 6000 baht 2 entry. Its a lot of sitting in a van over three days but easy and a well oiled machine.

Ahhh right ok, I havent actually got any stamps, well 14 day visa run stamps but I do have 4 four previous visa's as mentioned in the first post.

I really really hope I get one, may I ask how many visa's you had...?

An off-topic post and the reply to it have been deleted.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
