Bus From Bangkok To Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Hi buddies,

Anyone can tell me How much does it cost me to take a Bus from Bangkok to Chiang Rai?

Thanks

Sombat Tour 475B-904B depending on class of bus with Sombat Tour who are fairly good.

Siam First only offer 32 seats at best (so 4 across) and charge either 576B or 672B depending on 1st Class or VIP. Siam First

The other company I'd recommend, Nakhon Chai Air, don't list Chiang Rai as a destination on their website.

thanks alot for the GREAT infor u given.

You may have a particular reason for wanting to take a bus, but Air Asia costs less than twice the premium bus fare, and 65 minutes versus probably 11+ hours makes it no contest for me.

Tipical TV-style unneeded response; you omit the cost to/fro airport both sides+time to get there, check in etc-makes at least a 4-5 hr total time and adds more to the cost. For a hsort-term booking AA or NOK is at least 3x the quoted busprice. Plus bus is faster as you claim and can do overnight. Does Corsair(yet another failed Fr charter airline in fact) really think that OP is unable to think of this alternative?

Aggressive position asanee. I mentioned it solely because the OP may not have been aware that CR had an air service, or that it was relatively cheap. If he had been arriving from abroad, and I don't know his current location, he could have caught a connecting flight, therefore no travelling time. The Mo Chit terminal also takes time to reach, and probably not much less than Suvarnabhumi. I was in BKK recently and the bus fare to the airport was the B150, and the BTS special on the day I traveled was B50!! There are associated costs with both air and bus.

I ran a dummy AA booking and with all inclusions, the fare Bangkok- Chinang Rai was just over B1300, before I posted. I flew with AA to Chiang Mai (a similar distance to CR) for just over B1000 on less than a day's notice recently. With 'flexi-fare' a program designed to maximize revenue, the fare on an hour's notice could easily be less than that on a month's notice. It depends on demand versus supply.

I don't know if he is or isn't able to think of the air alternative, but he is clearly now thinking of air OR bus according to his last post, and it seems he didn't think it a 'tipical unwanted post'.

I reiterate, I wouldn't spend 11+ hours on a coach if I could spend 1 hour in the air.

I'm not sure of the relevance of your comment re Corsair being a failed French?? airline. I might mention is was also the most successful fighter of the latter stages of World War II in the Pacific theater with a kill ration of 12:1, and that's also of questionable relevance.

Small point asanee, correct spelling is 'typical', and I won't bother about the others.
