I'd like to bus it from Bangkok (Mo Chit?) to S®i Samrong tonight. It's near Sukhothai but I believe I need to take the Uttaradit bus to closest to my destination.

Is there a website(best) or English speaking enquiry line with timetable and routes Am I dreaming?

Tried Google and a bit of a search here but didn't win.

Really appreciate any advice/ link.

Sadly ,NO. Timetables are very few and far between ,as there are so many different private operators .Some of the better quality operators, such as Nakornchai Air ,Chan tours do publish them ,but they are generally in Thai and the English Translation is not good. But they only operate a small number of routes. Your only solution is to to go to Morchit and make enquiries.Tedious ,though this can be. You now have a further ,quite nice complication, . That is there are on some routes ,now 3 classes of buses, 2nd. class - no toilets ,1st. class toilet equipped ,and V.I.P. ,toilet equipped and wit h far superior seating - much more comfortable, and definitely my preferred option A bit more expensive , but also far quicker ,as they do not have so many stops..For example ,Morchit to Surin is more than 30 minutes quicker ,less than 5 hours 30 against 6 hours in 1st. or 2nd.class. Sorry I cannot be more positive,

yes you wre dreaming-or better said: not yet up to realities of Thai daily life. BTW: does the UK offer all times in Thai for intending visitors? In fact there are still many gaps in www for UK-bustimings as well-in case you had not noted.

Most of above is right-except that NOR Chan, NOR NCA nor the other does this route. Thats the usual TV parrotting (empty brained repeats of what has once been written).

The most basic you seem to know already: that its the UT bus and not the Sukhothai. The Suk-buses arerun by WINtour, a decent comp, about hourly daytime and 1 or 2 overnites (it is a bit too short for that-5-6 hrs). They may also do this route to UT-or thats Phitsanuloke YanYontour-again a fairly decent comp. The major obstacle for bus-users is likely the final leg, as these local buses (songhthaew?) stop running by dusk=18.00-so do not leave BKK too late.

Times in THAI are on transport.co.th- but these are limited, not for all routes, not just for the socalled ''govmt-bus'', also for all the companies affiliated to them (WIN is), but the most nasty thing is they do not tell which comp. runs when-so you still have to trail Mochit to find it. As such thats no pwobwem-simply walk, tell the touts where you go and they'll point you out, even if its not ''their'' comp. This is for central Thaild-boothes are on ground floor, maybe the row outside, maybe the row in side at the back.

Thanks for the reality check asanee. I can't answer your questions concerning UK - maybe you should enquire on a forum there.

Went to the terminal last night and am set to go tonight.

Decided to take a Sukhothai or Historical Park bus as lots of 1st class departures and I won't have to get off mid route as I would have on the Uttaradit bus. Easier.

Final leg would be tough solo but have my wife or family pick me up. Lucky. Extra 30km drive for them. Ok.

I've bused several times from Si Samrong to Mo Chit. I just go to the local shop about 3 km from home and the lady calls the driver to pick up the farang (very much a farang-free zone) - yeh the one who always has 4 kapong beer Chang for himself and a Krating Daeng for the driver and the gender confused hostie. Bit tougher heading out of the big city.

I usually drive there and back monthly but had my wife and family drive the pick-up north and stay there during the flooding.

Thanks for your time in replying.

Some useful information.

http://www.1stopbang...etting_here/bus

Regrettably, not all services are listed .To quote just 1 destination, SURIN, there are 2 V.I.P. services daily + 14 first class services ,which are not listed. Second class is fairly accurate. Really ,the only sure fire way of knowing when buses go , is unfortunately a trip to Morchit. For buses to the North and North East.

Very true, or check on google.

there are so many buses and companies it is always best to go there or find out the bus company and call them in advance.
