Proper Way To Address Mail To Thailand From America

Featured Replies

I have searched and found a couple different ways to address mail to me from America. I will be using Federal Express. The format below is what I think is the best format.

John Doe

Condo Visa #214

Sukumvit 00

Klongtan Klongtoey Bangkok

10110

Thailand

If you were to live in apartment number 26 in building number 15 on Soi 1 called 'Sunshine Condo' it would be like this :

John Doe

15/26 Sukhumvit Road Soi 1

Sunshine Condo Apt 26

Bangkok

10110

Thailand

I've found sometimes that the official apartment number and the internal number for the apartment can be different. For example the apartment number '26' might be known internally within the building as room '13B' (floor 13 apartment B) in that case you use '13B' on the 'Sunshine Condo Apt 13B' line of the address but still use the official number on the first line of the address.

I've had many things mailed to me over the past couple of years via the regular post office mail, EMS, DHL and Fedex and it never fails for me when using this format.

They are quite good though, once I had something addressed to just the apartment name / room number and it said 'Soi XX, Bangkok, 10110'. There was no mention of the road name so it didn't mention Sukhumvit road at all but it still arrived.

Ok I looked at my lease and my apartment number is the same with the forward slash (/). Let's say I live in apartment 2214. My address on my lease is 22/14 Condo Visa 1. So I would address like this below. I don't need to put Klongtan Klongtoey in the address?

John Doe

22/14 Sukhumvit Soi 22

Condo Visa 1 Condo Apt 2214

I'd just use the word condo once - it probably wouldn't make much difference anyway.

I'd use the line 'Visa 1 Condo Apt 2214'

One question though - the 22 in 22/14 is the building number on the street. Do you really live in building number 22 on Soi 22 on the 22nd floor ? That's a lot of 22's ?

My bad, I put Condo in there twice. I used a false address. I picked 22 for the apartment number and soi ( I guess I like 22). I'll do it like this.
