Hi Dear Expats,

I am in Thailand since 2month and few weeks, and my tourist visa is about to end. I have been told by many people (as well as the immigration officers) to go to a Thai embassy abroad (Vientian) to get a Non Immigrant B.

I need to stay 2 more month in Thailand (till the 5th of march), I am currently volunteering in a School but in 3 weeks I gonna be sunbathing in Ko Samui for the rest of my Thai time.

Do you have any tips to be sure to get this Non Immigrant B visa?

Do you know if I could ask for any other visa to have extension till beginning march?

I thank you for your help dear Expats, wish you a good end of 2011!

A non-B visa would require that you have an employer, and you would need to apply with paperwork from that employer. As you don't intend to work, you don't seem to qualify.

Since you have only 1 tourist visa, I would try to get another tourist visa with proof of a ticket out of Thailand on March 5th. It is the only thing you seem to qualify for, unless you are 50+ years old.

Hi Mario,

Thank you for your answer. Do you think I can just get a new tourist visa going to Vientian for 2 days (1st day paperwork and 2nd passport picking up)? No risk that they require me to stay in Laos longer than 2 days?

Cheers,

2 working days is what it normally requires, but be aware of any holidays and submit on day one before 12:00 hours.

Hi Again.

I just call the "1111" (visa info), they confirmed me I should ask for a new tourist visa in Vientian, you are a Visa specialist Mario! But is there not a period of 2weeks outside the country to get a new tourist visa? This is my last question, thank you very much again.

Recent reports seem to indicate that the Consulate in Vientien is "grumpy" at the moment. Savannaket seems to be more friendly.
