Without marriage I want to find out what chances are for my G/F and daughter to get a tourist visa to US. The purpose is a little sightseeing and mainly to spend time with them while I wait for overseas job assignment. She's not college educated but house and land is in her name. I know the Embassy will take into consideration what she owns in Thailand and possibly the size of her Thai bank account. I'm working on getting getting SS number for baby. Any thoughts on this matter would be appreciated.

Thank You.........................

Thoughts? Yes.

Even more important than your GF's bank account and ownership of a residence, will be YOUR status in Thailand. What kind of visa are you here on? How long, how many years have you been here. Have a Thai bank account yourself? Thai drivers permit? Yellow tambien ban, perhaps? Any magazine subscriptions from overseas coming here in your name? Etc.

All is to demonstrate that you have a longterm presence here, and intend to maintain it.

The presumption, then, of the interviewing ConOff might be that if you intend to return to Thailand after your joint U.S. visit, your GF would accompany you back here.

The daughter is and AmCit, I presume, so doesn't really enter into the equation.

Not so!! My now wife got her first three (3) U.S. visas while she was still the GF,the last one being a 10-year one. I'm retired here, was back then, too, and all the interviewing ConOff looked at was my passport and the string of "retirement" extensions.

FYI, my wife, then, didn't have a job, owned no property, and had a very minimal bank balance.

After job assignments I enter thailand with a regular 30 day stay. Never had a visa. Make trips to laos to extend my stay. This time I'll try to layover in S'pore and get a tourist visa. Thanks for the tips.

As Insman stated I didn't think I factored in too much with the interview.

Thanks.........
