Pheu Thai Party Denies Alleged Flood Relief Boat Scams

The Pheu Thai Party held a press conference denying claims by the Democrat Party that it tucked away boats intended for flood relief use and did not return them to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.

The party said the allegation is an attempt by its rival to discredit its MP.

Pheu Thai MP for Bangkok Jirayu Huangsap and former Pheu Thai MP candidate Mana Khongwuttipanya held a press conference at the Parliament to clarify alleged irregularities involving boats meant to be used for flood relief.

The press conference came after Democrat Party MP for Bangkok, Wilas Chanpitak, took a group of journalists to inspect boats that belong to the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation and were kept at Soi Phetchkasem 48 in Paseecharoen District.

Wilas alleged that Mana was in charge of overseeing the delivery of the boats to flood victims, but the boats actually went undelivered and were not returned to the department.

Mana said the allegation is an attempt to discredit him and he affirmed that more than one hundred boats were distributed to affected people and they are being retrieved to be returned to the Disaster of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation.

He claimed that Wilas may want to tarnish his reputation because the Democrat is losing popularity, especially after the flooding

Pheu Thai MP Jirayu said the Opposition party is trying to politicize flood relief and donation issues in the run-up to the 120-billion-baht central budget debate.

It would be useful to see photos to see how "used" the boats are.

Nothing new here. That would make sense if they accidentally ACCEPTED that. That one article I'll read in full...

But....what these morons can do for more? Only deny every and any criticism, while the facts saying opposite.

Me myself seen SELLINGS of "free, donated" foods. Yes, you got to pay 20 baht to get a "free" pack of food...Hey, Jirayu Huangsap and former Pheu Thai MP candidate Mana Khongwuttipanya - please answer me, where these money now?

Just one example.

Pheu Thai people lie so much that if and when they tell the truth, we expect it to be another lie. When the Prime Minister lies, and the Big Boss lies, then one cannot expect the MPs to tell the truth. Personally, I expect the Pheu Thai response to the allegations to be lies.

What caught my eye was

"clarify alleged irregularities involving boats meant to be used for flood relief."

Now I read that as a admission that they had boats meant for relief that were not used for relief.

Did you miss the key word in that sentence - "alleged" ?

Did the floods actually start in August or is that when the warnings started?

You have a point there the very arrogance accusing or even thinking the red shirts can do some thing wrong.

Pretty well sums up their open mindedness. Indeed it is a sad time for Thailand with that kind of minds running it.

So the answer would be "That's when the warnings started. The floods didn't start until later" then.

It seems irony, despite it's depth and weight, flies right over the heads of some.

How does depth and weight fly? And its is spelled without an apostrophe in this case. It seems you need a bit of help with your writing.

Time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana.

Dude, I meant and used 'flies' like insects,

as a double entendre. Which can be read as fly's.

Depth and weight also means, it had solid meaning, not empty,

also it likely didn't try to fly very high, but 'some observers' are lower still.

There also was a comma; it was the irony flying, it was described as having depth and weight.

There is a phrase when someone doesn't understand something they were told,

that it "flew right over their head". Pedantic reflux 101.
