Pakistan recovers bodies of 10 missing soldiers

PESHAWAR, PAKISTAN (BNO NEWS) -- Pakistani authorities on Monday recovered the bodies of ten soldiers whose remains were taken during an attack by Taliban militants last month, a military official said on Tuesday.

The bodies of the soldiers were taken on December 21 when up to 100 Taliban militants attacked a military checkpoint known as 'Maqsood Post', which is located near Daboori in Orakzai Agency, one of Pakistan's Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The violent attack left thirteen Pakistani soldiers and several Taliban militants killed. The militants were able to capture the bodies of ten soldiers while Pakistani soldiers later took possession of the bodies left behind by the Taliban fighters.

With the help of tribal elders, Pakistani forces were able to secure a deal to exchange the bodies on Monday. As a result, the bodies of the soldiers were returned to the military while the bodies of the militants were handed over to the Taliban.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan previously claimed responsibility for the attack on December 21.

Last week, in an act to avenge the killing of militant commander Qari Kamran, militants killed 15 members of Pakistan's paramilitary Frontier Constabulary (FC). The FC personnel had been kidnapped during an attack on a checkpoint in the town of Tank in North Waziristan on December 23.

So why aren't the Pakistani people livid about the killing of so many of their revered soldiers? Where are the street protests proclaiming death to their killers? ....in this case, the Taliban. Oh, of course, I almost forgot, Pakistanis hate westerners who kill their soldiers (allegedly by mistake), but go don't seem to mind when it's regional guys who kill them (on purpose). It's a strange, mixed up part of the world.

You have a point. Many in that part of the world, and on TV, seem to more concerned about who they are against, than what or who they are for.

Sad, really.

Looks more like a case that that you just hate Pakistanis.

If you read the news you would have found out that they are actually fight against the militants too and there is for sure not much love amongst the common Pakistani for terrorists.

The question is if the West should interfere how they should interfere. That they are not happy with drones killing their people or killing their soldier by mistake is understandable.
