Anybody Have Negative Experience With Mekong Bus Company?

Featured Replies

I've booked a trip from Saigon to Siem Reap via Mekong Bus company (or Mekong Express Limousine Bus, as it's called on the ticket). Upon seeing the tickets, my Vietnamese friend seems to think I heading towards certain death. I may be exaggerating slightly here, but it seems like a dire fate awaits me if I use this company. When I asked for details, he said they may drop me in the middle of nowhere, steal my luggage, lose my passport (while doing the visa for me as we cross the border) and a host of other calamities awaits me if I ride with this company.

I have scanned Trip Advisor and did not see any major complaints right off the bat. Most comments are neutral or positive. Has anyone here used this bus line and have anything of interest to report?

Used them regularly .IMHO they are the premier bus Company operating in Cambodia.

Agree. Used them twice for travel between PP and Siem Riep. Good service, clean and punctual.

Thanks. I survived the trip and have nothing alarming to report WRT Mekong Bus Co. In fact there was a breakdown between Phnom Penh and Siem Reap and they had a replacement bus on the scene in about 15 minutes. Two thumbs up for Mekong Bus Co.

I'm in Cambodia now. Beautiful country, delightfully charming people who, for the most part speak very good English (much better than most Thai and Vietnamese tourist industry that I have encountered), but there are the most aggressive shop owners I have ever seen here. Practically clamping on to me and refusing to let go if it looks like I might walk on to the next silk scarf shop, or blocking my way unless I buy something.

Back to HCMC tomorrow.
