Filipino Wife Adopting My Half-Thai Son.

Featured Replies

Hi,

I've had sole custody of my son (half-Thai) for 2 years and my Filipino wife wishes to adopt him. We are currently working in Qatar and plan on staying here for a few more years at least. Where do I start?

Cheers,

It may help others to answer your question if you could advise;

  • Your nationality?
  • and does your son have your nationality as well as Thai?

Good thinking by your wife, if in the unlikely event of anything happening to you she would automatically have guardianship.

Hi - I'm from the UK and my son has both Thai and British passports.

Cheers,

As this is not visa or immigration related you need to be looking at Thai adaption laws......perhaps another area of the forum would be beneficial to you??

How do I move it to another forum? When I posted it, I thought it was just going to go in the 'General' forum.

Cheers,

Obviously, the thing to conceder in which country can you do this.

you can not in the UK if your wife has not been resident in the UK for a year or more.

That leaves Qatar or Thailand, much will depend on their laws, I think as neither of you are Thai the cards will be stacked against you if you applied in Thailand.

Qatar also probably not allow this as neither of you are citizens.

Moved to family and children forum.
