First off, I'm not being anti Arab in my post........just looking for reports and will try to be politically correct, so please don't anyone take offence, as I'm posting this because of my wife's fears.

The Thai wife told me that while I was away today, she saw a car with 2 Arabs drive slowly by and checking the few houses in our neighborhood and then she told me that she read [in the Thai news] that there have been a lot of robberies in CM area by an Arab gang.....gold shops, ATM thefts and house robberies.

Any truth to this??

Are you sure she doesn't mean Thais from the South like Hat Yai, Yala or Narathiwat? Many Southern Thais do not even look (or speak) Thai. Some are even Negros. While out yesterday we saw a group of men in the city that looked like mafia. I thought they were Arab at first. They were having coffee at the same place I was. The waitress could not understand them very well. My g/f immediately recognized their dialect as from the South since she lived in Songkhla for more than 10 years.

Perhaps, she saw a group of southern Thai's visiting and no doubt enjoying The Royal Flora at Ratchapruek. CNX is a very popular at this time of year for domestic tourists!There are dozens of tour buses from the south visiting now! By the way is your wife a social anthropologist?

Strange how we often develop habits of thought that do not necessarily serve us. Were I to see two fellows looking at the neighborhood's houses whom I perceived to be Arabs, I probably would have concluded that they were looking for some to buy.

For some of us too, rumors are the stuff of life.

Us humans is very weird.

Maybe just looking for house to rent,we get plenty of LOOKERS around

my niebourhood, but maybe we should waterboard them to find out !!!!
