What kind of visitors? People who already enjoy karaokes in Asia and sampling local eye-candy? If yes then yes, if no then no.

Unless the visitors are card-carrying barflies I would start out slow, and do some regular pub-restaurants.

Karaokes have some nice looking staff, but you have to enjoy that kind of scene. Personally I hate it.

This is Chiang Mai, so don`t expect to find much of interest when it comes to adult entertainments, wine, women and song.

Here, there is karaoke and there is karaoke.

There are the small outside of town dumps that mostly cater for Thai clientele and are not very foreigner friendly. This is where some nonce who believes he can sing goes on stage and yells the place down with his obnoxious tones. In many cases it sounds as if someone is shoving a red-hot poker up the guy`s anus in order for him to reach the high notes. These days I`m not even sure if it is legal for a foreigner to sing in these places?

Then there are the so-called VIP karaoke joints. I would advise that you go armed with a truckload of cash for an evening out in one of these establishments.

It`s all here:

Watch out. Even unsuspecting Thai men are known to get hit for as much as 7-10K Baht per person in these places (no sex; drinks, songs, and companionship only).

Seconded. Thai friend of mine went with a couple of friends and got hit for 40k baht for a few hours. Turns out the ladies had ordered 60 drinks or some ridiculous number like that... and the muscle won't let you out the door until your bill is paid. Not all places are total rip offs but some are so watch out.

Yes, that was my point.

I think these sorts of places are better off avoided.

Baan Seang 2 , location please huh.png

Turn left at the corner of the moat that goes to JJ Market, Kamthieng, etc. Pass the screw shop, 7-11 etc. It's on the left just before or after the Royal Peninsula Hotel. I think there is a sign in English.
