Petty Officer falls asleep at the Wheel, causing crash in Sattahip

SATTAHIP:-- A Royal Thai Navy Petty Officer is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel and crashed into the rear of a slower moving vehicle ahead of him, early on Wednesday Morning.

The crash occurred on the Sukhumvit Road in Sattahip District and involved two vehicles. Petty Officer First Class Gasama aged 40 was travelling back to the Navy Base in Sattahip from Bangkok and was only a few kilometers from his destination when he fell asleep at the wheel for a split second, according to his Police statement. His Bronze Toyota Vigo, smashed into the rear of a red Mitsubishi Strada, driven by Khun Bangkom aged 68, causing it to flip over, trapping the man inside the vehicle.

Rescue Workers arrived and slowly extracted the badly injured man who was rushed to the Queen Sirigit Hospital, suffering from Head and suspected internal injuries.
