CAIRO, EGYPT (BNO NEWS) -- Bedouian tribesmen on Friday kidnapped three South Korean tourists and their Egyptian tour guide in Egypt's South Sinai province, security officials said on Saturday.

The incident happened in St. Catherine, located in southern Sinai, when a group of armed men stopped a bus and kidnapped the four victims. Maj. Gen. Muhammad Najib, director of south Sinai security, said the kidnappers belong to the Bedouin tribe, the Ma'an news agency reported.

Officials believe the same kidnappers are also responsible for the kidnapping of three Americans last week.

Earlier this month, Bedouin tribesmen kidnapped 25 Chinese nationals who work for a cement factory in central Sinai. The tribesmen have been demanding that the Egyptian government release their relatives detained several years ago because of their suspected involvement in attacks in south Sinai between 2004 and 2006.
