Hi,

Im Vietnamese. I want to search the way to make tourist visa in Lao because my friend said that I must have tourist visa before requiring work permit and 1 year visa. I have no experience to make visa before. Now Im living and studying Thai language in NongKhai. I must go to the border month by month. Can you guys recommend me step by step the way to apply for tourist visa at Thailand embassy in Vienchan? Is there any visa service to make visa faster?? A Thai person said that she can make 3 month visa for me in 1 day but its cost 9500 bath,is it so expensive?

Thanks you all!!

Since you live in Nong Khai it would be easy to enquiry directly at the Thai Embassy in Vientiane.

As far as I know the Royal Thai Embassy in Vientine will not issue Tourist to Vietnamese citizen.

Nationals of certain countries must apply for visas in their home country - Vietnam is not one of those countries. You can apply for a tourist visa at the consulate in Vientiane, single or double entry. The required documents from the MFA website are:

2. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

- Passport or travel document with validity not less than 6 months

- Visa application form completely filled out

- Recent( 4 x 6 cm.) photograph of the applicant

- Evidence of travel from Thailand (air ticket paid in full)

- Evidence of adequate finance (20,000 Baht per person and 40,000 Baht per family)

- Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary

Upon entry you will be granted 60 days permission to stay. That can be extended for 30 days at immigration in Thailand at the cost of 1900 baht.

Thanks you. How much per single visa when applying in Vien? I also want to apply 1 year visa and work permit. My friend said that I must have tourist visa before applying for work permit and 1-year visa, is this exactly??

The single entry visa is 1000 baht. Simplified: Once you get the visa and a job, you must apply for a work permit. They will not issue you a WP but will give you a receipt, WP3. Then you must go back to Vientiane, or any other consulate, and apply for a Non-B visa with the WP3 and all of the other paperwork required. They will only issue you a 90 day single entry visa. When you get back to Thailand with the Non-B, you can pick up your work permit. You then have to extend your visa in Thailand at immigration.

There are other conditions that apply as far as salary, company registration, etc. that will affect your ability to get the WP, but you have not provided any details.

What's WP3? If I came in Thailand on 30 days refered by immigration and get a job, cant I come back Vien to apply Non-B visa? Did you mean I must have tourist visa first --> get a job in Thailand --> apply WP3 --> comeback Vienchan and apply Non-B visa in 3 months (or 1 year) ?

"What's WP3?"

From Post 6 : "...you must apply for a work permit. They will not issue you a WP but will give you a receipt, WP3."

Find a job.

Have employer apply for work permit. Labor Office will give you a receipt = WP3.

Take that and other paperwork from the employer to a consulate to apply for Non Imm B Visa.

With visa in passport, return to Labor Office to pick up your work permit.

Go to immigration to extend visa.

Ohh, I understood this point. However, must I apply a Tourist Visa before everything ?? Because, I dont understand why my friend said that I have to have Tourist visa before applying Non Imm B visa?? Can you explain for me this point? Thanks u much!!!

I don't think that the labour department will accept an application for a Work Permit on a 30 day visa exempt entry.

I dont means that you said. My friend said that I must have Tourist visa ( not 30 day visa ) to enter Thailand, after that receiving a job, and preparing to apply Non - B and work permit.

You can enter on a visa exempt entry and get and apply for a work eprmit without any problem. They will just not issue one, without you having the correct visa. Instead they will give you a form, with which you can get the correct visa in a neighbouring country (together with the other required paperwork from your employer).
