I would have thought that if the place you are going to train is any good they will know all about it, and advise what you need and provide you with the appropriate paperwork.

This of course is dependent on how long you are going to be here, if its less than 30 days then a simple "visa exempt" entry will suffice which is given when you arrive at the airport and costs nothing. (dependent on your Nationality)

If you only need 3 months, get a tourist visa from one of the consulates. this is good for a stay of 60 days and can be extended by another 30 days in Thailand for 1,900 baht. You might even consider getting a double entry tourist visa, meaning you can leave thailand and get enother 60 days and extend for 30 days.

If than you would like to stay longer you could try to get an ED-visa for training Muay-Thai, with paperwork from the school. But that might not be easy. if you already have a school where you will train, you can contact them and ask them if they can help you with getting an ED-visa.
