While he is here, I am hoping to introduce him to some resident Filipinos. I am interested in knowing local gathering places, or hangouts: - restaurants ? - RC churches ? ( please give Mass times if known, especially any in Tagalog) I am looking for places which are "under the radar", i.e. places which are not advertised as such, but have become hangouts anyway. Pub at Sukhumvit Soi 7; Mojo Bar has a Filipino singer; The Corner at Soi Cowboy and the pub opposite The Corner has Filipino band. There is a church near Ploenchit that has mass in Tagalog. Have you cut yourself off completely from your own countrymen and culture? I doubt it. Everyone needs a release valve living in a different country and there really is a very small population of Philippine people here so doubtless they would want to hang out together sometimes. Just because aliens like us all live here for various reasons does not mean that we do not need sometimes to kick back with our fellow countrymen and bask in our own culture and conversation for a bit. Masses of young Pinoy study at RamKamHaeng uni for a few monthes-and thus gather there. The evening foodnightmarket near the pool in front of big stadium and some impromptu internetshops sunday morning. These are not those who tend to go church a lot. Great Filipino band with 3 nice looking ladies and a gent who are very friendly, been there forever and could probably hook you up with some folks. The Embassy opened the grounds for them to socialise in. Maybe the Embassy knows of some Filipino Associations in Bangkok?
