Looking For A School

Recommended Posts

I'm and American with an 11-yr old son. We just moved to Pattaya, and I'm looking for an inexpensive school to send my son to. He doesn't speak Thai, so he needs to go to a school where courses are taught in English. I don't want to send him to one of those rediculously over-priced "International" schools. Any suggestions???

Thai schools teach in Thai. If you want your child to be taught in English you will have to enroll him in an international school. My son goes to St. Andrews at Green Valley in Rayong and I have been very pleased with the place. It costs around 80,000 baht per term (of which there are three a year) and therefore it is nowhere near as expensive as some schools around the region. The other main options are ISE (which is American curriculum), the Regents School and Garden International School. Unfortunately, if you want your children to have a Western education when you are living in Asia, it is necessary to put your hand in your pocket.

There are a couple of schools in the local area that might work.

Try......Pattaya International School. It is located on Sukhumvit near the Naklua exit but on the opposite side of Sukhumvit and towards Central Road. Does that make any sense?

Another one you can try is B. E. S. T. (Burapha English School of Thailand). This one is located off of Sukhumvit as well. If you are heading towards Lotus, take the first left turn after you pass South Pattaya Road. Perhaps 150 meters towards Lotus. It is at the end of the very narrow Soi.

Good luck.

Try Satit Udomsaka, Soi Greenway off Sukhumvit Rd. heading towards Sattahip

near opposite Under Water World is the turn off just B4 the Ford dealership.

Have a bus service if you need. Costs about 20K per term of which there are only 2. We also send our daughter to Kumon twice a week. It's a mathmatics school. Costs I think 1,500 Thb per month

Get an expensive school in Pattaya and u get alcoholics and whoremongers teaching your child.

Get a cheaper one, you get more of it.

Talk to some Pattaya residents, no lack of them here. I have met some of them who marched out their "teacher friends".

Doesn't Satit teach in Thai? I think it is a very good school, but it seems to me it would be very tough for a kid that speaks no Thai.

My step kids go to Aksorn which is a thai school with a few farang teachers, no complaints as yet apart from them wanting my stepson to have that stupid haircut! (which i keep refusing to do) :o

Best is a bi lingual school. 75% of their subjects are taught in English. Their are quite a few children that go their and do not speak Thai. My son is Thai and he goes their but also speaks English. I too come from America, Los Angeles.
