Fried Rice
This Gecko was living outside our house until recently when he decided to move in. I was wondering if anyone knows the official name english or Thai. He is very loud at night when he makes his call, it is usually 3 or 4 calls that can be heard even a couple houses down. I took this picture of him on the wall before trying to get him out. He was biting the broom when I was trying to escort him out. Seemed none to happy but after about 30 minutes got him back outside. He is about 18 inches long, I think its 45 cm. We live outside Uttaradit if the location helps with the ID. Thanks.

Named after it's cry. You don't very often see them, only hear them. And yes, they are loud.

fivevenoms
Oh wow! I recall having one of those living in the house I was staying at in Chiang Mai earlier this year. Before I saw it I would have SWORN that was some crazy bastard running around yelling "Tuk-Ee"!! Everyone had a good laugh and informed me otherwise (goes to show you what a lifetime of metropolitan living won't teach you). Then one showed up in my bedroom, and I was quite fond of it. Ate the mosquitoes, evidently.

Interesting. Thanks again all. Mr. Gekko Gekko made his way back in the house last night I got another pic of the nasty mean Gekko. mitmig
Had one in the house too! Normally they stay outside, but this one was sitting on the frontdoor and used my husbands head to jump inside the living room! Should have seen his face (my husbands that is )! Of course then it was my job to get the tokey outside, but he wasn't happy about it and tried to bite in to the broom. He even came toward me! Eventually he escaped through the window. I like the sound they are making.
udon
Take good care of him/her, they keep the nasties down. If he's outside throw him a little minced beef ocasionally. I like their call.
chanchao
Keep in mind it's cold this time of year. Chances are that she'll depart again in February. BTW, on the topic of their call, I explained to my wife that traditionally in my country, when it calls out 5 times or more it is very lucky, and it is then customary to treat the husband to an impromptu BJ on the spot. Not doing so would be very unlucky. (Heck if they can scare kids telling them that any funny face they make will remain permanent if the gecko calls while they're doing it then I can think of a few things of my own!) Cheers, Chanchao

chanchao
It seems it created a subconscious link between geckos and male members. The end result of which being that there's now another species of animal to worry about besides ducks.
chonabot
A very nice Tokay Gecko , about 15 years back before I was a family man I lived a sad life. I used to keep Lizards in the UK , one of these specimens would cost about 50 quid. My favourite Tokay was over 10 years old when I sadly had to pass him on to another collector. He was very tame and would actually sit with me in the evenings and watch TV. I miss him.
