LazyYogi
Simple question. Has anyone seen any place that sells beef jerkey, like the kind that you can get at any gas station in the US?
CobraSnakeNecktie
it's in all the markets like Tanin and Muang Mai. They sun dry it and it often has some salty seasoning. It's pretty good but different in some respects from the US variety.
Mestizo
If you get the sun dried beef, take it home, coat it with black pepper, and microwave it a couple times and then let it sit. That will remove alot more of the remaining moisture and getting closer to US style. Not perfect, but probably as close as you are going to get. I've been toying with the idea of bring back a Dehydrator on my next trip back to the US and learning to make my own jerkey. Just would need to make sure it supported 220V and not just 110v. -Mestizo
mallmagician
You can get a dehyrdrator from verasu in Bangkok. I bought one a few months ago online and had it delivered. I made some great jerky with it. I found pork doesn't make a good jerky at all. Beef has the right texture etc. Edited March 31, 2012 by mallmagician
