April 1, 201214 yr Hi all My wife is in the UK on a Settlement Visa and we are going back to Thailand to change my wife's Passport and to have her name changed to her Married name. My Biggest issue, Her return airline ticket is in her maiden name and on her return the Passport will be in her Married Name. Will this create a Issue. I understand that going through passport control, she must show her old passport which will include her settlement Visa for the UK. Should i inform the airline prior to travel or will showing her old passport and marriage certificate and translation be OK. Best regards Malc
April 1, 201214 yr This subject has been on here countless times, and I can not see the advantage to having your wife's Thai passport in her married name, i think that will also involve changing her id card as well. my wife has all Thai id's in her maiden name, and all UK stuff in married name, this has never caused any problem, in both countries. back to your question - married and maiden names are something that the airlines are used to dealing with, carry old passport and marriage certificate, should be no problem.
April 1, 201214 yr Author Thank you for the reply. my wife has changed her name on her ID card but its the passport that we need sorted, she has not been able to open a bank account yet due to her passport
April 1, 201214 yr Inquire with the airline. But with proof of change of name it should not be a problem.
April 20, 201214 yr Isn't it possible to change her passport for a new one in the UK? At the Thai Con in London? I think it is only £25.00 and takes 4 - 6 weeks????
April 21, 201214 yr Yes, it is possible but she will have to make an appointment to attend in person to have her biometrics taken. See หนังสือเดินทาง Passport
