Where To Buy Thai Language Textbook Series For Thai Students?

Featured Replies

I found the wonderful Manee series linked to here: http://blog.joshsager.com/downloads/

This is the Thai language textbook which every Thai student went through, on a daily basis, from elementary school grades 1 through 6. Apparently they discontinued this course about 15-20 years ago, but they have a new set of books. I heard that it's something like a single series which all Thai students go through from grades 1 through 12.

Does anybody know what i'm talking about? Where can I buy these books?

Thanks.

There at a least 2 new series of primary school books (and maybe more).

Each school year typically has 2 books, one book is about Thai language in general.

The other book is about poems and Thai literature. You probably want to buy the first one.

To be honest, I think the maanii readers are the best.

In fact, I resent the idea that my children would need to learn language from the new books, because besides language they full with hidden nationalistic propaganda (maybe I express myself too strong, but they are very different from the schoolbooks you would find in most western European countries).

You can find the latest series at the suksapan bookstore near the democracy monument in BKK.

Every big city also probably has 1 bookstore where they sell some of the official schoolbooks, so it depends a bit on where in Thailand you are.

Thank you very much. I live in Bangkok so I'll be going to that store. I suppose there isn't a store closer to the BTS/MRT?

Yes, there is suksapan store a store just right of the ekkamai busterminal where they also sell the official schoolbooks.

Also have a look at their website : http://www.suksapan.or.th/

or go directly to schoolbooks : http://www.suksapan....id=40&Itemid=99

It looks like you can order online, but since you live in Bkk it's easier to get the books over there.

There are youtube video's of the different lessons. For instance:

Thanks kris!

I found the Ekimai shop and, with the help of the worker, figured out what was available. I picked up the first couple of books. It's the same series you show in your video.

I plan on going through these books when I finish some of the other stuff I'm doing.
